Manmade Puffer Fish

Another Brennan & Dad Creation...made of styrofoam, clay, toothpicks and spraypaint. Some pufferfish trivia:

~Dolphins have been observed using puffers as a sort of toy in the wild. They tease the puffers with their teeth, causing the small fish to become alarmed and then inflate. After a while the fish calms down and deflates, thus starting the cycle over again. It is speculated that dolphins may also enjoy the mild numbing effect from small amounts of the puffers toxin.
~When lifted out of water, puffers can inflate with air, but they may have problems deflating again afterwards. When this happens with aquarium specimens, fishkeepers hold the puffer underwater by the tail, head upwards, and shake the fish gently until the air escapes out of the mouth.
~Fugu, the Japanese dish containing puffers meat, famous for its potential toxicity.

Boing,boing,boing...Spring is Sprung:)

It's the first official day of spring. In theory that's great but it would be nice if it actually felt like it. I love spring but it doesn't love me. Me, Brennan & Maggie have been feeling the effect of springs arrival for the past 3 weeks or so.

It's a Globe thing.

Here's a picture of Maggie's project that she & Kim have been working on...pretty cool HUH!! Maggie couldn't wait to take it to school today to show it off. She's the only one in her class that did the earth. Almost everybody else went with the solar system.

We've Got Floor!!!!

The big news in the Jackson home...we've got floor:) Now the kitchen still has a ways to go, but not having to walk on plywood and tar paper is a definite plus! Kim may need to see my chiropractor after this and I may need more meds to prevent a nervous breakdown, but it looks beautiful.
